Video Surveillance is an important tool in keeping up order and smooth flow of people and vehicles during concerts, games and other events.

Mirasys Protects the Home of Cricket

Lord’s Cricket Ground has been the ‘Home of Cricket’ since 1787, and is widely viewed as the game’s spiritual ‘headquarters’. Owned by Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), Lord’s is said to be the most important single place in the world for cricket. The club more than thirty matches at Lord’s each year which attract around as many as 28,000 people per day.

“Whilst it is important to ensure that the recording suite is able to expand and accommodate our future needs, the day-to-day use of the system has also been dramatically improved meeting our goals regarding manageability of the solution” said Alan Baxter, MCC’s Head of Security. “With Mirasys, we can now easily access recorded images. The data can be simply explored and a particular incident can be found quickly with the help of the search tools.”

“Each member of security staff has regulated access to the system depending on their role and access requirements. This means that remote access to the recording suite is viable from an internal security perspective. Staff can now manage their time more effectively, accessing CCTV and metadata directly at the DVR or elsewhere on the site. This means that surveillance can now be efficiently monitored at all times regardless of location, improving security across the site,” added Alan Baxter.

Mirasys makes the Globen area a safe venue

The Globen Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, is an extensive event area with the world’s biggest spherical building. The arena has a total capacity of 44,000 visitors. With approximately 300 implemented events per year and 1.4 million visitors, security is of utmost concern.

The security personnel have to be able to recognize dangerous situations and prevent them – preferably even before they have the occasion to occur. Video surveillance plays a critical role in this task. “Our biggest security challenges are to prevent disorderly behaviour,” explains Ralph Isaksson of Globen Arenas. “We want to make sure our events are safe, that the crowd remains under control, and that any threats of a disturbance are thwarted.”

““The Mirasys surveillance system has been a great aid to secure events. Concerts and sport events go hand in hand with large enthusiastic crowds. But if things get a bit too wild, security cameras can spot the action, allowing security workers to maintain order, while capturing valuable footage of those acting out of line. We have installed cameras with remote-controlled pan, tilt, and zoom functions and they have proved to be invaluable.”
